Give

Giving is an act of worship; tithing is a command of God. We render back to God a portion of the revenue which He has given to us, as the Lord has prospered each.

The theology of giving

Why should I give?

We believe the tithing principles of the Old Covenant carry into the New. We also see that principle explicitly affirmed in the New Covenant in 1 Cor 9:14, that ministers of the Gospel are to be paid in the same way as the priests and Levites under the Old Covenant.

Tithing is God's regulative means of funding the work of His church, as well as His means of providing a system of accountability for charitable giving. Tithes go toward paying ministers, funding the work of the church, and helping the poor and needy (with particular regard to the needs of the members of the church).

The Apostle Paul said to the Philippian church, “Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.” That is our heart toward you as well.

We are not primarily concerned with our budget. We are concerned with the health of Christ's body. Giving is one of the primary instruments God uses to pry your heart loose from the grip of mammon and attach it more firmly to His Kingdom.

Give cheerfully; Give sacrificially; Give regularly. And give as an act of faith in the God who owns all things.

“Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Guard your heart

Give to resist the deceitfulness of riches: the slow, quiet work of money to become your lord instead of your servant.

Follow your King

Jesus became poor so that we through His poverty might become rich. Giving is imitating Him.

Care for the saints

Your giving funds mercy ministry — the care of widows, struggling families, and those in need within the covenant community.

Support faithful ministers

Those who labor in the Word and doctrine are worthy of double honor. Your giving frees your elders to shepherd well.

Advance the Kingdom

Your giving funds the ministry of the Word, locally first, and, where possible, beyond.

Giving is a Command

The commands for the support of the Lord's ministers are just as valid today as they were under the Old Covenant.

Giving Invites Blessing

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and empty out for you a blessing until it is beyond enough.”
